Biography

Silvio Ceccato was a philosopher and linguist. Born in Montecchio Maggiore (Veneto, Italy) in 1914, he studied law, and music (cello and composition). Pioneer in the cybernetics, in 1956 he designed and built "Adamo II", the first Italian prototype of artificial intelligence, and one year later he became director of the Cybernetics and Linguistic Studies Centre at Milan University. He authored numerous books about linguistic, philosophy, cybernetics. In 1988, as an actor, Silvio Ceccato participated in the movie 32 dicembre (1988) directed by Luciano De Crescenzo, playing the role of the insane Cavalier Sanfilippo, who believed to be Socrates. He died in Milan on December 2, 1997.
