W. Layne Mcdonald

Layne McDonald was born in Greeneville, Tennessee, on July 26, 1979. His father is a sales professional and moved the family 26 times when he was growing up. He did, however, manage to go to David Lipscomb Elementary, Middle, and High School, in Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated from Hoover High School, in Hoover, Alabama, and went on to the Art Institute of Atlanta, where is finished top of his class. He has also attendant the LA Film School. Early in life Layne suffered from ear aches that left his hearing slightly damage. He was also legally blind and used high strength contacts to see. These two early struggles left him unable to compete academically. Needing extra guidance, his parents put him in Silvan Learning Centers until he went to high school, where he became an A Student. Later he would set academic records at the Art Institute and become a leading Avid, Final Cut, and Premiere Editor for multiple studios in Atlanta, Nashville, Birmingham, and Los Angeles. His passion for faith, family, and the art of film have guided his career choices. In 2003, he became one of the few protestants working as one of the main Editor for the Eternal Word Television Network. He has freelanced for Trinity Broadcasting Network and others, during that time, and co-founded his own pro-life film studio in 2005. In 2009, he was wed to Miranda McDonald, and they moved to Los Angeles. Though within months he was editing for all of the major studios, he gave it up to raise a family and to be close to their parents. Family guided him back to Memphis, Tennessee, where his wife's parents live. He and his wife moved close to Washington D.C. for a raise and the ability to working faith-based productions. Soon, however, they would move back to Memphis, with the same studio, to help his friend's family that was going to St. Judes for Childhood Cancer. He now lives in Memphis, TN, where he is the Media Director at a Faith-Based Film Studio, as well as heading up his own studio, Layne McDonald Studios. Layne McDonald has been around for over 15 years as an Editor, Producer, Director, Camera Operator, Gaffer, and Graphic Designer. He has worked with Eternal World Television Network, Trinity Broadcasting Network, Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures, Disney, Nickelodeon, Warner Brothers, and more. He was mentored by Mel Brooks' and Alfred Hitchcock's Editor and Audio Recordist, Danny Greene. He has worked on films, such as the Passion of the Christ, I Am David, City of Ember, Little Men, and Polar Express. He is now on a mission to build a Christian "Hollywood" Studio that is focused in quality storytelling, life giving messages, and resources for the hurting. This studio is the fruition of his dream to make films, and to help the masses be apart of a studio.
