Biography

As well as working extensively throughout the industry as an actor, both on screen and stage, Cosh Omar was Writer-In-Residence at the Theatre Royal Stratford East. His first play, 'THE BATTLE OF GREEN LANES', had a very successful run having launched the opening season of the new Artistic Directorship and was published by Oberon Books. His short story, 'SON OF A HOCA', was a winning entry for the Decibel Penguin Prize and was published by Penguin Books in the anthology, 'FROM THERE TO HERE'. His essay, 'REBEL WITH A CAUSE: A PERSONAL JOURNEY FROM SUFISM TO ISLAMISM AND BEYOND', was published in the United States by Palgrave Macmillan in the book, 'THE OTHER MUSLIMS'. 'THE GREAT EXTENSION', his follow-up play at the Theatre Royal Stratford East proved to be an equal success and was also published by Oberon books.
