"Doc Michelle" is an experienced medical technical consultant and advisor for the Entertainment Industry. As a board certified Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, she stays current in the medical field as an Emergency Transport physician at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Growing up in Kentucky, she graduated with honors from college and medical school at the University of Kentucky before moving to Los Angeles for residency at UCLA. Dr. Shuffett's involvement in the entertainment industry began with the Media Resource Team (MRT) of the American Academy of Pediatrics and has since grown to the co-development of a media consulting and technical advising company, Medical Entertainment Associates. Dr. Shuffett recently completed the first season (14 episodes) of "Presidio Med", a CBS series from the creators of "ER". Additional credits for on set consulting experience in television include work on FOX's "24", CBS's "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful", and WB's "Gilmore Girls". Her entry into the motion picture industry began with advising for Malpaso Productions on the film Blood Work (2002). Through her work independently, with the MRT, and with The Alpha Companies, Doc Michelle has provided script consulting and answered writer's questions for "Everwood", "Boston Public", "Family Law", "Judging Amy", "Ally McBeal", "Passions", "Third Watch", "Yes, Dear", "Law & Order", and "The West Wing". She is also a writer's resource for the WGA and has assisted in developing, editing, and adapting books and screenplays. Doc Michelle provides cutting edge information from the medical field along with a fresh perspective. As an on-site expert, she increases efficiency by acting as a link between the department heads and by coaching the actors before the shout of "Action!". She creates "Medical Beats" to assist in the development of medical storylines and dialogue for the script. Doc Michelle's experience in blocking medical scenes provides the movement and action that makes the scene stand out. The final creation of a technically correct and edgy medical storyline will maintain viewer interest and keep the story right on target in today's reality driven industry. Dr. Shuffett's experience also encompasses other media venues including co-hosting a medical question and answer website for parents and most recently co-writing a parenting book about common pediatric questions. She was also featured on an "Inside Edition" segment about medical consultants.
