Biography

Mary-Lyn Chambers was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. Chambers is known for stories about inequality in the narrative space in Spanish and English. She is a Fellow in the Sony Diverse Directors Program and Film Independent's Project Involve. She is currently in the Alliance of Women Directors Career Advancement Program. Chambers is the 2019 recipient of Film Independent's grant to create a PSA commercial about childhood trauma for Children's Institute. TIJUANA, her award-winning 192Os film screened at Slamdance, Bentonville, Hollyshorts and won 'Best TV Pilot' at the Chelsey Awards and nominated for an Imagen Award. THE PLURAL OF BLOOD won "Best TV Pilot" at the Downtown LA Film Festival and released on Amazon Prime. DEBRIS (ESCOMBROS), exploring child refugees in cages won several awards including 'Best short" from Manchester Film Festival and "Best Female Director" from Hollyshorts. Chambers is known for hiring women and minorities and is vocal about human rights and inclusion. She spent a decade working for the Independent Spirit Awards and the LA Film Festival. Between 2010-2013, she worked in Qatar for the Doha Tribeca Film Festival
