Biography

Till Schmerbeck, producer was born in Munich/Germany. He had studied "film production" at well-known "Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg", specializing in the area of creative producing in feature films and TV series. His first feature film "Das Verlangen" ("The longing") directed by Iain Dilthey is the winner of A-Festival Locarno 2002. The award winning graduation film (Best Director in Gijon, Best Actress in Angers, ...) was invited to more than 50 international film festivals (Montreal, Sao Paulo, Berlin, Jerusalem, Pusan, HongKong, Cannes, Cairo) before it was released in German theaters May 2004. His graduation film called "Helden in Gummistiefeln" ("Heroes in rubber boots") has finished for German broadcast SWR and arte in 2005 winning the "Erich-Kästner-Preis" for the best children program in German speaking TV 2005. Till Schmerbeck has produced two more shorts: "The man with the white beard", a 5min Christmas comedy has been screened on TV at 13th Street. For Walt Disney Germany he realized "007 1/2", a 20min short for children. Schmerbeck coproduced "Blindflug", a love drama which opened Perspektive Deutsches Kino at Berlin Film Festival 2007. In 2010/2011 Schmerbeck was German line producer for the documentary "Harmony", a co-production with Balcony Films Los Angeles directed by former Oscar nominee Stuart Sender. The film was financed with NBC/Universal and inspired by His Royal Highness Charles, Prince of Wales. The doc had its premiere at Sundance London in the attendance of His Royal Highness and Robert Redford. Schmerbeck was producer for "carte blanche Film" at Studio Babelsberg from 2013-2016. Under writer/director Stephan Wagner he realised German tv movies like "Tatort: Hundstage" or "Wer aufgibt ist tot". 2017 Schmerbeck produced the first German funded horror movie "Heilstätten". Co-production partner is Fox International Productions Germany. The feature was released in German theaters by 20th Century Fox Feb 22, 2018 with nearly 180.000 admissions and a box office of 1,6m EUR.
