Biography

Ricardo Sean Thompson is an independent film maker whose first feature film Rap War One (2004), starring multi-platinum rap artist Greg Mays and up and coming rap super star Justin Edwards, premiered at the 2003 American Black Film Festival where it was acquired by Maverick Entertainment for distribution. He was born on the beautiful island of Jamaica in the parish of St. Ann. His family relocated to Brooklyn New York when he was a small child. In 1977, he saw his first motion picture film, Star Wars. He was immediately hooked. Fast forward to 1995, he graduated from Baruch College with a BBA in Advertising and immediately enrolled in a film workshop at New York Film Academy. While there, he shot his first music video for the underground rap group The Jigmastas, which became a huge hit on MTV Japan. He went on to work for MTV on the Nickelodeon magazines' Rugrats, Nickelodeon Magazine, and Nick Jr. Magazine as Production Coordinator. After leaving MTV Thompson worked as Producer and Editor of Jada Kiss protege J-Hoods feature length film debut, Ghetto Dawg 2 (2005). He has since written the screenplays of the upcoming urban action films The Ski Mask Way (2010), starring and produced by multi-platinum selling rapper 50 Cent, and 'The Story', starring multi-platinum selling rap artist Young Buck. His most recent work is as writer and director of the independent feature length film Back Stab (2008). He is currently in pre-production on his next feature which is a Latino thriller titled A Kiss Of Chaos (2008). Thompson' goal is to take Black and Latino filmmaking to places no one has dared to try to explore.
