Gary H Lee was born in Taipei, Taiwan. He moved to the United States at the age of 13. Gary enrolled as an Illustration major student at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. At 19, he started his professional career when recruited at Lucasfilm for Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005) at the Skywalker Ranch as a Animatic/ Pre-visualization artist based on an animated short he made in Upland High School.
After Lucasfilm, Gary directed his first live-action short film Hector Corp. (2009) with receiving 9 festival awards. Same time, Gary was in the Layout department for several DreamWorks Animation feature film productions such as Over the Hedge (2006), Kung Fu Panda (2008), Monsters vs. Aliens (2009), and Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011).
Gary joined Ang Lee's Life of Pi (2012) as a Pre-visualization Supervisor. And most recently, he participated in Aquaman (2018), and Call of the Wild (2019).
Aden is Gary's latest directorial project. It has won 10 awards in international film festivals to date.
