Biography

Songwriter ("A New Shade of Blues", "I Have But One Heart"), composer and publisher, educated at the Zwecker-Hahn Conservatory in Philadelphia, and also a music student in Vienna. He was in a vocal group with the Tony Pastor Orchestra between 1938 and 1941, later joining the staff of a Chicago music publisher, eventually owning his own publishing firm and joining ASCAP in 1947. His other popular-song compositions include "Tara Talara Tala", "Formal Night in Harlem", "Swinging in a Swing", "Catch On", and "If You Were There".
