Biography

Priscilla Brasil is a Brazilian Filmmaker and Executive producer. She was born in Belém, Pará, Brasil, on October 06, 1978, and is a prominent film director whose career started in 2004. She is influenced by the works of Werner Herzog, the Cohen Brothers and the Dardene Brothers. Priscilla's father Jefferson Brasil is a civil engineer, and her mother, Maria das Graças, is an engineer and lawyer. She grew up in a middle-class catholic family and plays piano since the age of 8, graduating in classical music when she was 17 years old. She graduated in architecture and social communications, with various post-graduations and titles in business administration. Priscilla was married to André Mello from 2004-2007 and has been married to Luís Márcio Alvarenga since 2011. Her first film as a director was 2006's "As Filhas da Chiquita", her first feature documentary. The film crossed more than 30 countries around the world and received numerous awards, being the first local (Belém/PA) film to be commercially distributed throughout the country. In 2007, she debuted the featurette "Serra Pelada - Esperança não é sonho" within DocTV, a governmental culture program in Brazil. In 2009 she directed the also awarded "Terra de Negro". Beginning 2010, she was mostly dedicated to audio projects, being the executive producer of the documentary "Brega S/A" and directing video clips for many brazilian bands and artists, amongst them: Curumin (SP), Macaco Bong (MT), Daniel Peixoto (CE), Madame Saatan (PA), Lia Sophia (PA) e Gaby Amarantos (PA). She directed then the musical-documentary "Gaby, Live in Jurunas" (2012) and also "Gaby ao vivo no Circo Voador" (2012), intensifying her work with Gaby Amarantos and planning, managing and executing business strategies and the singer's image. She conceives the artist's debut album cover and marketing campaign. In the same year, Gaby Amarantos is awarded as Artist of the year by Brazilian MTV, besides four other awards in the same day - also winning Multishow, APCA e Bravo! awards. In 2012 last quarter, she starts a project with Coca-Cola for "Todo Mundo", one of the official songs of Fifa's Worldcup 2014, with Gaby as an interpreter. She then directs two video clips for this project.
