Mary Willems

Mary Willems was born in South Bend, Indiana. She has a B.A. in Telecommunications and English from Indiana University and an M.S. in Communicative Disorders from the University of Louisville. She wrote "The Movie List Book: A Reference Guide to Film Themes, Settings and Series" with her husband, Richard Armstrong, in 1990. A second edition was published in 1994 and a third edition, under the title "Encyclopedia of Film Themes, Settings and Series", appeared in 2001. "The Movie List Book" was called "the most valuable film reference in several years" by Library Journal. Mary co-founded the Electric Bijou Film Society, a film-showing, non-profit organization in 1982. Her radio program "Mary's Movie Minute" was broadcast on a suburban Louisville station in the 1980s.
