Biography

Wrote/Directed several short films in high school, winning an arts distinction award. Mark became especially enamoured with 60s and 70s cinema. After graduating from film school, he moved to the west coast and co-founded a production company (Under The Gun Films), creating commercial spots, short films and documentaries for clients. He won a 1998 Silver Screen Award at the U.S. International Film and Video Festival in Chicago and also received a nomination at the '98 Hot Docs! International Festival in Toronto. In 2000, his proposed documentary film on Miles Davis titled "Making Blue" was invited to pitch at the exclusive MIPDOC Commissioning Editor's session. He released his debut feature "Awake" in 2006 as Producer/Co-Story/Co-Editor and Co-Music Supervisor. Mark is also a self-published 'star reviewed' children's book author with his debut effort 'The Light in Cy' -- released in 2019. Currently, he works as a Covid-19 Health & Safety Officer in Film/Television and a Driver in Film/TV. He's also writing a short dramatic film and a coming of age feature screenplay.
