Biography

Scot Byrd is a screenwriter and producer. Among his numerous creative projects, Byrd is developing the science fiction adventure television series "Encounter with Tiber," based on a novel written by Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin and science fiction author John Barnes. Byrd is collaborating with producer Rupert Hitzig ("Jaws 3D," "Wolfen," "Electra-Glide in Blue") and screenwriter-producer J. Nathaniel Berke on the project (2017). An award winning graduate of UCLA's MFA Screenwriting program, Byrd also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the CalArts Professional Actor Training program. While still a UCLA film student, Byrd reached out to musician David Crosby, which led to a multi-year correspondence during which he wrote "Shadow Captain: The Amazing Journeys of David Crosby." Byrd's script earned the Spotlight Award from the UCLA Film School as one of the top screenplays of the year, and is being produced by fellow Bruin alumnus Carey Borth (2017). Byrd's screenplay "The Fight for Fairfax" earned the Carl David Memorial Fellowship at UCLA. From 1999 to 2013, Byrd directed media relations and publicity for the renowned visual effects production company Rhythm & Hues Studios, supporting and contributing to over 100 feature film publicity campaigns for the major movie studios, including Academy Award® winners "Life of Pi" and "The Golden Compass," and Oscar® nominees "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" and "Snow White and the Huntsman." A multi-talented artist, Byrd is also an accomplished singer/songwriter and recording artist.
