David W. Hess

David W. Hess is in his first film with his portrayal of an American reporter in the Kinsha, Zaire sequences of Ali (2001). He met Michael Mann in Maputo, Mozambique where Mr. Mann selected him for the role and where the Kinshasa sequences were filmed. David has lived in Mozambique since 1999 working for the U.S. Agency for International Development. He has directed and acted in amateur theater in three of the seven countries in which he has lived in since leaving the U.S. in 1977.
