Biography

Sarah Blustain joined The New Republic as managing editor in January 2001. She is a 1991 graduate of Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, with a bachelor of arts in English, and recipient of several awards including the Newswomen's Club of New York Front-Page award in the category of columns and criticism in 1996 and the American Jewish Press Association first prize for feature writing in 1998. Prior to TNR, Blustain was a senior editor at Lilith, a quarterly feminist publication, from February 1996 to December 2000. During that time, Blustain also worked as a freelance writer for such publications as Lingua Franca, Salon, Psychology Today, Forward, and Moment. From September 1991 to January 1996, Blustain was at Forward where she started as an intern and worked her way up to News and Features Editor. Blustain currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia.
