Stephanie La'Keem Jones studied and received her MFA at USC School of Cinema-Television in 2001. Her film short, Gabrielle, garnered national and international recognition winning several awards including the 2002 Showtime Filmmaker Showcase, 2001 Best Short - Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame, 2002 Best Short - Reel Sisters Film Festival and 2001 Honorable Mention Best Screenplay - Damah Film Festival. The film continues to win fans through the DVD collection distributed by the Spiritual Cinema Circle, founded by producer Stephen Simon.
Stephanie went on to win the 2003-2004 ABC Fellowship Grant to write the feature film version of Gabrielle. Writing this script has opened the door for her to develop several feature film projects with independent producers. She is represented by Creative Artists Agency.
