Biography

Dennis Overeem, (Amsterdam, 1971) is co-founder of The Buddy Film Project. A foundation that helps refugee filmmakers in Holland to find work and help build a new network in the Dutch film industry. The first big project shall be a feature film, written and directed by Dennis. A romantic comedy set in a small village where the residents don't want an asylum center to close. The production starts in the spring of 2018. The production will employ over 90 refugees from 13 different countries. Dennis is a writer, director and actor. He starred in several drama- and comedy series (ONM, Samen, Bitches, Suzanne en de Mannen, Sophie's Web), films, (Unwanted, Kosovo's submission to the Foreign Language Film Award of the 90th Annual Academy Awards) and theatre plays (De Jantjes, nominated best actor Dutch Musical Awards). In 2009 he went to Los Angeles to train acting with Ivana Chubbuck. When he returned to the Netherlands he set his mind on being a writer and a director. Since the summer of 2010 he wrote and directed four comedy series and a couple of short films.
