Biography

Marcelo is the son of a cartoonist and a piano player, so he always loved art, especially cinema. He started his film/video career with a cameraman internship at the Jockey Club. It was very interesting to work with a long-range lens. After that, he took another internship as a post-production assistant carrying those heavy 2-inch tapes. At that time, he learned to work and equalize levels of color and luminance. In this production company, he got to know the 3D animation that was new in the 90's. He became an animator and worked in several producers in Rio de Janeiro. Finally, he came to Rede Globo television, one of the largest networks in the world. He was a 3D animator and visual effects producer. He directed visual effects scenes for 10 years (1996-2006). In 2006, he received a proposal to open the visual effects department of Rede Record. He was the head of a team that came to have 30 people in the areas of 2D, 3D and composition using software like Flame and Inferno. He coordinated and directed visual effects scenes in Miami, United States, and Palermo, Italy. In Buenos Aires, Argentina, he directed the capture of movements for a great project of animation of human figures. After four years, he turned to the independent film market. He has worked on editing and finalizing short and long documentaries and fiction using mainly Final Cut X software. He also does graphic design by creating DVD covers and movie posters. In this new phase, he also migrated to personal projects and directed his first short film "A Story of Butterflies".
