Kim Yu was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She has worked in the entertainment industry for over two decades having started as an Arts freelance writer before moving into publicity and marketing and eventually into production management and producing. She began her career in the late '80s writing for Toronto and GTA newspapers (including a weekly column for Metroland) before ending up in advertising and subsequently doing publicity for stand-up comedians. She later worked at C/FP Distribution and then became Director of Communications for Norstar Entertainment handling everything from corporate PR, release and unit publicity to international marketing for its television/film projects. Her release publicity credits include national campaigns for indie pics Crumb, Living in Oblivion, Welcome to the Dollhouse, Vanya on 42nd Street and Safe. As VP of Communications for Sullivan Entertainment, she primarily focused on television projects. She has extensive credits in unit publicity. In the late '90s, Ms. Yu started her foray into production where she has overseen both indie and studio film and television projects. She was Production Supervisor (English division) at Equinox Films before doing freelance Production Managing and Line Producing on both features and television series. She continues to work in publicity as well as production.
