Howard West

Biography

Howard West was born in New York City and graduated from Long Island University with a degree in business administration. After serving in the Army, West joined the William Morris Agency and subsequently became a theatrical agent. He eventually moved to the Los Angeles office of the agency where he represented writers, performers and directors as well as actors. He specialized in television packaging, theat unique talent of bringing together the creative talent and then selling the project to at network. The television shows he packaged included "The Glen Campbell Show Goodtime Hour," "The Bobby Darin Show," summer replacement shows with Jerry Reed and John Byner as well as numerous one-hour variety specials. Among the other clients he has represented are Neil Diamond, Anne Murray, Ruth Buzzi, Paul Lynde, Glen Campbell and Jerry Reed. West later left the Morris Agency to become a personal manager and producer. He was Marty Feldman's personal manager for ten years and executive produced "The Last Remake of Beau Geste," which he developed with the comedian. He also produced "In God We Trust," which he and Marty Feldman once again co-developed. West is partnered with George Shapiro, a former William Morris associate and friend for 30 years, in the management firm of Shapiro-West and Associates.
