Born on 22 May 1950 in Limerick, Ireland, Bill Whelan is a musician and composer known for his work on films like Dancing at Lughnasa (1998) starring Meryl Streep, My Left Foot (1989), and The Mask (1994). Internationally, he is probably best known as one of the composers of the music for Riverdance, an Irish dancing show, which was featured as an interval act at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin, Ireland, and which later became a world wide success on the stage. He has also worked as a producer in the music business.
