Jamie began his career as a lawyer with the prominent Toronto law firm McMillan Binch, where he worked in corporate finance and entertainment law representing producers such as Paramount and Alliance Atlantis. He also worked on some of Canada's largest and most innovative financing strategies including the Royal Bank of Canada's purchase of Royal Trust, the first sale of distressed real estate backed loans in Canada, and several major loan facilities including one which exceeded one billion dollars. In 1996, Jamie was recruited for the position of Director of Business and Legal Affairs at Sullivan Entertainment, where he was responsible for two seasons of the television series WIND AT MY BACK (CBC/Disney), the television movie PROMISE THE MOON (CBC/Hallmark) and the top-rated mini-series SEASONS OF LOVE (CBS/CTV). In addition to managing the production and financing of these projects, Jamie reviewed television distribution and home video deals with partners from around the world and was responsible for securing all government funding. Jamie later joined the Business Affairs team at Nelvana Limited, the world's largest independent producer of animated programs, where his primary responsibilities were the business and legal aspects of programs including NED'S NEWT (Teletoon/Fox Kids), ANATOLE, (CBS/YTV) BABAR, KING OF THE ELEPHANTS (Alliance Atlantis Releasing (theatrical release)/CBC/Disney Channel/HBO), FLYING RHINO JUNIOR HIGH (CBS/CTV), BIRDZ (CBS/CTV), GEORGE AND MARTHA (HBO/YTV), LITTLE BEAR (Nickelodeon/CBC/Treehouse) and the highly successful adult animated series BOB AND MARGARET (Global/Comedy Central/BBC). In addition to developing theatrical and television programs, Jamie negotiated and structured rights acquisitions, financing, production, distribution and merchandising agreements. Jamie also arranged for international treaty co-production agreements with partners in France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Australia among others. Jamie joined Credo Entertainment as an Executive Producer in the early part of 1999. In this role, Jamie was responsible for the development, financing and production of theatrical and television programs While at Credo he created, co-produced and executive produced the highly rated and critically acclaimed series PIONEER QUEST: A YEAR IN THE REAL WEST (History Television/Life Network). He executive produced the feature film KANADIANA which was accepted into the Montreal World Film Festival, Cinemafest in Puerto Rico and won three awards at Toronto's Planet Indie. Jamie is CEO & Executive Producer at Frantic Films, a leading visual effects and production house in Winnipeg. Jamie is also a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Film and Television Production Association (CFTPA) Finance and Tax Committee. He has also served as a member of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, the Canadian Bar Association Ontario Entertainment Media and Communications Executive and the Industrial Relations Committees of the CFTPA. His expertise has given him the opportunity to speak at many entertainment industry conferences on topics such as structuring co-productions and negotiating distribution deals.
