Javen Tanner graduated with an MFA in Acting from The Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. While at The Old Globe he was awarded the Craig Noel Fellowship, and he traveled to London to workshop and perform "Twelfth Night" at the Royal National Theatre. Credits at The Old Globe include "All My Sons" (with Daniel J. Travanti), "Love's Labours Lost" (Directed by Roger Rees), "Twelfth Night" (Directed by Jack O'Brien); "Beyond Therapy," "Macbeth," "Reckless," "Six Characters in Search of an Author," and "The Two Gentlemen of Verona." After finishing his degree at The Old Globe, Javen moved to Manhattan. New York credits include: "Creation," "The Cat and The Moon," "The Only Jealousy of Emer," and the New York premier of Nobel Prize winner Seamus Heaney's "The Burial at Thebes" (producer). Javen worked as associate artistic director of Handcart Ensemble, which was named one of New York Theatre's "people" of 2006. He was recently named Best Actor at the New York International Independent Film Festival (2007) for his role in "Return With Honor: A Missionary Homecoming" (aka "The Return"). Javen has taught acting at New York University's Playwrights Horizons Theatre School, Brigham Young University, and is currently (2007) serving as the Theatre Department Chair at the Waterford School.
