Biography

Irina Taseva was born on July 22, 1910 in the town of Kyustendil , Bulgaria. She graduated high school in Sofia and then Dramatic Theater Studio at the National Theatre "Ivan Vazov" . In 1929, she graduated from Theater School of Nikolai Masalitinov . That same year she began to play on the stage of Theatre "P. K. Stoychev ". She started to work as an actress at the National Theatre in 1930 and played on stage until 1980. She has played most of the main roles of the classical repertoire: Madame San Zhen by Sardu; Jessica of "Merchant of Venice" by Shakespeare; Hedwig in "The Wild duck" by Henrik Ibsen; Liuza of "Treachery and Love" by Schiller; Mashenka in "Mashenka" by Alexander Afinogenov; Alexandra in "Yegor Bulichov and Others" by Maxim Gorky; Juliet in "Romeo and Juliet" by Shakespeare; Eboli in "Don Carlos" by Schiller; Delia Moon in "Scandal in Brickman" by John Priestley; Kendid in "Kendid" by Bernard Shaw; Countess Dyurop Dyufor in "Passenger without Baggage" by Jean Anouilh; Maria Hoseva of "The House of Bernarda Alba " by Federico García Lorca; Deborah of " The Soul of the Poet " by Eugene O'Neill . Irina Taseva is the author of two books: "So shining stars" (1963) and "Goodbye Love" (2012). she died on February 21, 1990 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
