Amelia Sánchez Ortega

After acting in a Spanish silent film, Rosas y Espinas (1927) she took part in local beauty contests and was elected Miss Madrid 1934, competing for Miss España (she didn't win). Her aim was to be noticed to become a movie star. In June that year after the contest was over she acted in the Coliseum theatre as a singer, then in Barcelona at the Edén Concert. Since then she would be billed as "Amelia Sánchez, Miss Madrid". In July 1941 she was part of a musical play at Calderón theatre in Madrid, "Aquí Radio Calderón".
