Juliy Stoyanov was one of the greatest Bulgarian Cinema directors. Juliy Stoyanov was born in Sofia,April 27, 1930. He graduated secondary education in 1948. In 1953 he received his degree in Film Directing at FAMU (Art Academy) in Prague. Most of his films are dedicated to the persons , important for Bulgarian history. He had directed over 20 documentaries. Among them are Biography Verification (1969), telling the dramatic story of the painter Alexander Zhendov; Zahari Stoyanov (1975) - about the Bulgarian Revolutionary and native writer; Lyuben Karavelov - Matters for a Research (1979), Ambassador Dod's Daughter (1985), Borislav and the Balkans (1993), The Square (1996), Like in the Cinema (1999), Bulgaria: Data Base (2004), About the Possibility of a Life (2005), and Encounters with Jirechek (2009) His films have won numerous prizes in Moscow, Leipzig and Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
