Biography

Stanislav Stratiev (Stanko Stratiev Miladinov) was born in Sofia September 9, 1941. He graduated Bulgarian philology in Sofia University "Saint Kliment Ohridsky". He had worked as a milling-machine operator, and then - as an editor in many newspapers. His short absurd stories are a prose work of very high quality. His debut in cinema was the script for the film "Wardrobe" (1974), directed by Georgi Djulgerov. After this film, Stratiev wrote the script "Velour's jacket", but the socialist authorities did not permit making the film. Bulgarian cinema had lost one brilliant absurdity's author, but Bulgarian theatre got the best author of absurdity comedies in 70, 80 and 90. Stanislav Stratiev wrote the plays "Roman bath", "Velour's jacket", and many others. He is a screenwriter of the films "Short Sun" (1979), "A Nameless Band" (1982), "Balance" (1983). Lyudmil Kirkov directed all these films.
