Born November 11, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri, the younger of two boys. Enlisted in the army and went to Korea. Developed his creative writing as a copywriter in the Leo Burnett Advertising Agency in Chicago from 1959 to 1969. Married to Donna Lee MacDougall in 1954, 4 children. Divorced in 1969. Married to Sandy Freeman 1974 to 1991.
