Uors von Planta

Born in Zurich in 1916, trained both as a chemist and an aviator, Uors von Planta finally worked in film production (as a unit production manager, a production manager or an executive producer), starting with a Swiss classic, Leopold Lindtberg's The Last Chance (1945). He was then the organizer of most of the movies produced by Praesens-Film, including Heidi (1952) and Heidi and Peter (1955), two childhood favorites for which he discovered the two child actors. From 1963 to 1978, he produced about a hundred medical documentaries made in Geneva by Norman P. Schenker. Planta also appeared in bit parts in some of the films he contributed to. By the end of his life he co-directed a short, "Herausforderung des Lebens". He died two years later, in 1979, in Zurich.
