Biography

Slava Tsukerman, born 1940, in Moscow, Soviet Union, is a director, writer and producer. In 1961 he made his first film, "I Believe in Spring" . For the next twelve years he was active in independent filmmaking in the USSR. In 1973 he emigrated to Israel where he directed a couple of films. He moved to New York in 1976. Six years later he wrote, directed and produced the cult-classic "Liquid Sky". The plot has been described as a primitive pre-computer acid-trip dealing with a miniature plate-sized saucer landing in New York City, releasing euphoria-seeking aliens on the hunt for heroin and orgasms. The film was produced on a slim budget, $500,000, by an obscure Soviet company, Z Films Inc.. Slava Tsukerman has internationally directed 43 feature films, television productions and documentaries.
