Maureen Janet Prentice grew up on a farm near Calmar, Alberta with her older sister, Heather, her younger brother, Fergus and her parents, John and Connie. Her father grew up in Duns, Scotland, moving to Canada in his early twenties. Her mother is originally from Millarville, Alberta. Maureen attended Tempo School in Edmonton and then Concordia College Highschool. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts, Political Science major in 1992. She started her career in the film and television industry in Edmonton as a Producer's Assistant at WDC Entertainment, a company co-owned by Glynis Whiting and Tom Cox. Maureen currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia with her black laborador, Lucky. She is co-owner of Jump Communications, a film and television production company. Maureen is a dual citizen of Canada and the United Kingdom.
