Marius Petipa was born on March 11, 1818 in Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhône, France. He was a writer and director, known for The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018), The Bolshoi Ballet: Live from Moscow - The Nutcracker (2010) and The Bolshoi Ballet: Live From Moscow - La belle au bois dormant, Ballet en deux actes (2011). He was previously married to Love Savitskaya and Mariia Surovshchikova. He died on July 14, 1910 in Gurzuf, Crimea, Russian Empire [now Ukraine].
