Paul Petschek was born in NYC. He splits his time now between NYC and Los Angeles, and has also lived in Munich and in Paris.
He is a trained, passionate, working editor as well as an experienced actor. With a specialty in long-form films and television, he has a unique ability to work on details while fulfilling all the important proportions of timing and structure. With acting training with Alan Feinberg and George Gallagher and at Lee Strasberg, Playhouse West, Second City and with Judy Weston, he loves to perform. And to edit performance - comedy and drama. He also has a Magna Cum Laude degree in Visual Arts from Harvard.
Paul has had the honor of editing on large studio projects like "Waterworld", with and for major film heavyweights like Martin Scorsese and Thelma Schoonmaker, on quality TV like "Chicken Soup for the Soul", and on numerous Independent and award-winning films like "Most" (nominated for an Academy Award) and "39 Pounds of Love (recipient of an Israeli Academy Award).
Paul believes film is a "consciousness product", with the ability to affect and influence billions. The actor, through their physical embodiment of their role in the story is the most immediate instrument through which films communicate emotionally to their audience, and the editor (through their own instrument) works as well to combine picture and sound to embody these performances and to shape all other film elements into a medium that is truly felt by all.
