Biography

M.O. Penn was born in the U.S. Penn was an actor and director as well as a sculptor and an artist of exceptional ability with gallery showings in Europe and America. He was sent to France at a young age to study art but by the time he was twenty he was forced to fend for himself. So, he joined a cabaret act before moving to Paris where his legit acting skills were honed. Pathe France took a liking to him and offered him roles in some of the top films of the day. He was a popular Pathe artist who also spent time casting the likeness of the Pathe officers. By the early 1910s he asked to be transferred to the American Branch of Pathe in Jersey City. Besides the many Ithaca based films he appeared in, Penn was known for "Race Memories" and "Going Some" in 1913 and "The Wasted Years" in 1914.
