Christopher Peditto studied drama at Carnegie-Mellon University, and with Robert Lewis (co-founder of The Actors Studio), before co-founding igLoo Theatre in Chicago. Noted directing credits with igLoo include: Lee Breuer's A Prelude To Death In Venice (Chicago premiere), and World premiere stage adaptations of John Fante's The Saga of Arturo Bandini (igLoo, Chicago), Jim Thompson's The Killer Inside Me (Off-Broadway, Currican, New York City) and Charles Bukowski's Pulp (SoHo Rep, NYC).
Peditto co-produced documentaries for HBO, including the Emmy award-winning films Talked to Death and Dead Blue: Surviving Depression with Mike Wallace. From 2000-2015, he worked as a producer at HBO, creating award-winning original online content for HBO Films, HBO Documentaries and HBO Miniseries.
Peditto made his feature film directorial debut with Light and the Sufferer. Starring Paul Dano and Michael Esper, and based on the story by Jonathan Lethem, the film premiered at the 2007 Edmonton International Film Festival.
In 2016, Peditto founded Balkan American Theatre, in Sarajevo. For BAT's debut production, Peditto adapted and directed the dark comedy Fearing's Funhouse, based on the life and poetry of Kenneth Fearing. The play premiered in November 2016 at Club Monument Sarajevo. In 2018, Peditto directed the European premiere of Michael Ende's fantasy classic The Neverending Story at Pozoriste Mladih Sarajevo. He recently directed the feature film Fearing in Sarajevo (2019 Madrid International Film Festival, World Cinema Milan). Peditto will next direct Warren Leight's award-winning play Side Man at Kamerni Teater Sarajevo, in 2020.
Peditto has been a guest teacher at the Academy of Performing Arts, in Sarajevo, and a guest lecturer at the International University of Sarajevo. His work has received support from the U.S. Embassy Sarajevo Cultural Grants Program.
