Midge Sanford

Midge Sanford began her professional career as a teacher. She entered show business as a film story analyst, eventually teaming up with Sarah Pillsbury in 1981 to form Sanford/Pillsbury Productions. She and her partner have overcome the usual obstacles in working in a male dominated field, including having to deny over and over that she and Pillsbury are gay. The company has produced many character driven projects, including the Independent Spirit Award winning River's Edge (1986) and the Emmy winning And the Band Played On (1993). Their production company has been successful for over twenty years.
