Jason studied film at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he received the 'Excellence in Filmmaking' Award. His thesis film, "eclipse" premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and won top prize at both the Student Academy Awards and the Independent Film Channel's Student Showcase Awards. In 2016, the Academy of Motion Pictures digitally restored the original 16mm negative of "eclipse". In 2017, nearly 20 years after its last festival screening, a new DCP of "eclipse" showed at the HollyShorts Film Festival in Los Angeles.
Since "eclipse", Jason has written numerous screenplays, directed two feature films ("Laura Smiles", "Sam & Joe"), more than 80 short films and has won many awards for his work as a writer, director and photographer. His feature films have received glowing reviews from some of the nations top critics and publications, and have screened at many of the best film festivals, including Tribeca, Munich, Denver, CineVegas, Vail and more.
