Biography

Brandon Mastrippolito was born into a family of filmmakers. His Uncle Ray West won an Academy Award for sound editing on Star Wars and uncle Domenic Mastrippolito is an accomplished commercial director and filmmaker. Growing up immersed in the industry, he started shooting super 8 and 16 mm as a child. He learned the importance of lighting and how creating a look can bring the viewer closer to the material. His passion for the artistic and creative sides of the business came at an early age. While attending the University of California Santa Barbara, where he earned a degree in Film & Television. Brandon financed his education working in the film and television industry in a variety of capacities. His natural talents and understanding of lighting and camera movement enabled him to land a job right out of college, and he has not stopped working since. Graduating from college did not end Brandon's desire to gain a greater understanding of the way the world looks through a camera lens. Working as both a Camera Assistant and Camera Operator for legendary Cinematographers Haskell Wexler, Conrad Hall and Michael Ballhaus, Mr. Mastrippolito continued to expand his knowledge of the craft from some of the most talented collaborators in the business. His talents also led to his work on such feature films as Spiderman with Don Burgess, Fever Pitch with Matt and John Leonetti, Rush Hour with Adam Greenberg and Godzilla with Ueli Steiger. Over the past 25 years, Brandon has shot a wide variety of Films, Commercial, and Television Shows. In the process he has won multiple AICP and cinematography awards.
