Biography

Christopher Manning is an award-winning writer, director and producer working in fiction and documentary. Nowhere, his most recent drama short, which was commissioned by the British Film Institute and British Council and co-produced by Cannes-winning production company Majdal Films, will premiere at festivals in 2021. His films have received multiple nominations and awards, screened at over 75 festivals worldwide and garnered millions of views online. Festival selections include BFI London Film Festival, Encounters, Uppsala, London Short Film Festival, Frameline, Outfest, Queer Lisboa, and BFI Flare, among many others. In 2017, Jamie, his debut drama short, was one of only five films selected for the BFI and British Council's FiveFilms4Freedom campaign. His follow up short Isha premiered at BFI London Film Festival in 2018 and went on to win several awards and receive multiple nominations on the festival circuit. Both Jamie and Isha are now available globally on Amazon Prime and other VOD platforms. Christopher is a BFI Network x BAFTA Crew scheme participant, a member of Directors UK and an Alumnus of the Telluride Film Festival Student Symposium. He holds a BA in History from Columbia University in the City of New York and an MA in Filmmaking from the London Film School. His upcoming drama feature debut is in development. James Watson, 2020 BFI Vision Award recipient, is attached to produce.
