Biography

J.R. is a screenwriter, director and actor with a BFA in film/minor in drama from Syracuse University, and an MFA in film directing from Columbia University. As a Syracuse undergrad, J.R. won an Academy Foundation Grant from AMPAS for his supernatural/neo-noir thesis short "...AND THE RAIN CAME DOWN." He is the writer-director and star of the feature film "DIVIDED WE STAND," a college political thriller (his Columbia master's thesis film). "DIVIDED" won Columbia's coveted and prestigious Milos Forman grant, and an Eastman Kodak film stock grant based on its screenplay. J.R.'s supernatural horror script "THE DOPPELGANGER SUITE" placed in Francis Ford Coppola's American Zoetrope Screenplay Contest and in the ScreenCraft Horror Competition. His genre scripts have also ranked in the Top 25 Features of Roadmap's Jumpstart Writing Competition, the Fade In Awards Sci-Fi Competition, the Shore Scripts Feature Contest, the Page International Screenwriting Awards, and in ScreenCraft's Feature, Action & Thriller, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, and Fellowship Competitions. His sci-fi/fantasy spec "CODE NAME: PINOCCHIO" ranks in the top 3% of all projects on COVERFLY and in the top 3% of their sci-fi projects, and was featured on THE RED LIST.
