Biography

Born in Paterson, New Jersey, Walter Levinsky often used the pen name "Walter Leslie". Educated at Lebanon Valley College, he was a saxophonist in orchestras including those of Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Les Elgart, and the United States Air Force. He joined the NBC staff orchestra in 1958, and wrote for the Johnny Carson Show. His music is heard in many recordings. Joining ASCAP in 1955, his chief musical collaborator was his brother Kermit Leslie (Levinsky), and his musical works include "Jalopy" and "Sequoia".
