Joanne Rubino

Biography

Joanne Rubino is a creative, development, and production force behind highly acclaimed and award-winning biopics, scripted series, and documentaries. Among these is History's Hatfields & McCoys miniseries, the most-watched entertainment program in the history of basic cable television with 16 record-breaking Emmy nominations (five wins). Against the backdrop of a rapidly changing industry, she has tapped into the fascination that audiences have with true stories. Today, as the founder of Be Brave Media, Joanne is sought out to develop true-story film and series concepts into viable production projects. She offers a portfolio of projects in development as well as an established network of director, producer, writer, talent, production company, crew, network, and agency contacts across genres. When Joanne set out to make a difference in the entertainment and media industry, her goal was to create fresh, relevant content that would reach new audiences and elevate brand value. Drawing upon her love of acting and storytelling, she quickly earned credits in front of the lens. Her problem-solving approach in resolving critical production issues as a cast member, however, opened up a new world that would expand her influence as a producer and writer. Within a few years, she had become a pivotal member of Leslie Greif's leadership team at Thinkfactory Media, ultimately serving as the President of Production. Throughout Joanne's tenure with Thinkfactory, she blended her artistic sensitivity with an analytical approach to exceed profitability and ratings goals on all projects. In addition to Hatfields & McCoys, these included Texas Rising (History miniseries with numerous Emmy and SAG nominations) and Surviving Compton (Lifetime TV movie that attracted more than six million viewers). In addition, Joanne was one of three producers to receive an Emmy nomination for Brando, a Turner Classic Movies documentary.
