Sekou Laidlow

Biography

Originally from Baltimore, Sekou Laidlow is an exceptional actor who loves his craft. A graduate of the famed Juilliard School, he is a recurring guest-star as Crosby Smith on the ABC mini-series, Women of the Movement, written by Marissa Jo Cerar and directed by Tina Mabry; due for release in summer 2021. He played a recurring role as Walter Camp in the critically acclaimed series, The Breaks, on VH1. He appeared in the romantic comedy, Better Off Single, starring Aaron Tveit and Kal Pen. Mr. Laidlow recently guest-starred as Josiah Banner in the acclaimed CBS dramatic series, The Good Wife. He was supporting lead in The Mend, playing the role of Pierce, opposite Josh Lucas and Austin Pendleton. Mr. Laidlow made his Broadway debut in Airline Highway, directed by two-time Tony Award Winner, Joe Montello. Mr. Laidlow's most recent Broadway credit is Boys in the Band, also directed by Joe Montello. He collaborated with Juilliard alumnus and Director, Michael Urie, in the comedic web-series, What's Your Emergency. He originated the role of Homer in the Pulitzer and Kennedy prize-winning productions of Suzan Lori Parks' Father Comes Home from the Wars, a co-production between the New York Public Theater and the American Repertory Theatre at Harvard University. Mr.Laidlow sees his artistry as an extension of his responsibility to his community and has a passion for using his storytelling craft to empower others to tell their stories. He is the co-host alongside Maxime Paul of the compelling Podcast "Let Me Introduce Myself," where they are co-creating space for Black men to explore their humanity, their blackness, and everything in between.
