Ivan Kusan

Ivan Kusan was born in a family of Jaksa Kusan, respected bookstore owner with many friends and contact among the creme of Sarajevo intelligentsia. In 1939 the family settled in Zagreb where Ivan, at the age of 10, wrote his first novel. His writing talent coincided with the talent for visual arts as well as his leaning towards world travel. All those tendencies would make him very popular and internationally recognized children's book writer with first novel being published in 1956. After that, Kusan worked on the Zagreb radio-station. Between 1980 and his retirement in 1994 he taught Dramaturgy at Zagreb Drama Academy. Ivan Kusan was married twice and has a son, Daniel, from previous marriage.
