Biography

Bernt Kohler-Adams was born in Hamburg in 1951. He had a classical academic education, studied German and sociology in Hamburg and afterwards worked for a short time in several grammar schools in Hamburg. But it was music that determined his path in life from his early childhood, and at times he even dreamed of a career as a classical concert pianist. Following his teaching stint, his detour into the gastronomic scene lasted roughly fourteen years. He ran two fashionable restaurants in Hamburg's city centre as Managing Director and chef. But music was the stronger influence and he rocked his way as singer, composer and keyboard player through many Hamburg bands. Then in the early eighties he finally met Frank Otto. The pair founded the band "Goya" and thereafter produced a series of singles with Bernt Kohler-Adams as the main songwriter and composer. Through working together as musicians they became friends and in 2001 they launched the multimedia project "Trip" together. The first pictures and film ideas emerged from the first melody fragments. In the years that followed, this project matured into a fascinating concept comprising a 74-minute piece of music, four independent films, live performances with the band and various multimedia set pieces. Trip was first presented to the public in 2005. Bernt Kohler-Adams is Managing Director of ferryhouse productions GmbH & Co.KG, together with Frank Otto and Björn Mathes.
