Biography

Bob Hite, Jr., later known as News Anchor / Reporter, Bob Hite, was born and raised in Greenwich, CT. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam era, from 1967 through 1969. Instructed in elocution and speech by his well-known announcer/anchor/narrator father, Bob Hite, Sr. (1914-2000), at CBS, NY, from 1944-1979, Bob, Jr. seemed destined to follow in his father's footsteps. He served as a photo-journalist during his time in the Marine Corps and thereafter began his news career as the nautical news guy for WCBS Radio, NY, motoring his vintage 40s Chris Craft around Long Island Sound. Bob's first television gig was as weekend anchor at WPVi, Philadelphia. In 1977, Hite accepted an anchor position at WFLA Channel 8 Tampa, and was soon elevated to senior anchor, a position he held through his retirement in November of 2007. For a while after his retirement Hite lived in Colorado but in 2017, moved back to Florida where he lives and works his production company (KinshipProductions.com) near his home in Cape Coral.
