Lori Hoeft

Biography

Lori Hoeft is a Los Angeles-based writer and director originally from NY with credits including commercials, public service announcements and music videos for clients such as Adidas, Lincoln Mercury, Family Gateway and the Partnership with the Drugfree nonprofit. An active member of the DGA, Women in Film and Film Independent, Lori graduated from Art Center College of Design on a merit-based scholarship in 1998. During her time at film school she was an intern for Satellite and projects by Mark Romanek, David Fincher and Joe Pytka Her Nike spot "Recycling" won a student Clio award and put her on the radar of several production companies, which was the catalyst to signing with Reactor films fresh out of school. Her documentary feature Speak Up When You're Down is a groundbreaking project touching on the subject of postpartum depression and featuring Marcia Gay Harden, Madeline Brand and 32 other moms, dads and medical professionals. The first installment, Chrysalis of Change. The Lily Chan Story, won a Director's Award at the Lady Filmmakers Festival in Los Angeles in 2012. Lori was a finalist in the MTV/Women in Film Pitch Competition for her original dramatic series Abbot Kinney. She was also a top-three finalist at the Sundance 2013 Film Utah Pitch Competition for her faith-based project Christ Air, which tells the inspirational true story of Christian Hosoi's journey from skateboard teen idol to crystal methamphetamine addict to inmate to pastor. My focus is projects with sensitivity and social relevance. Hoeft was selected as a finalist in the WIF Dick Clark Productions Best Reality Show competition Nov 2013. Sept 29th 2013 Lori Hoeft was the recipient of the LADYFILMMAKERS BEST SHORT DOCUMENTARY for her latest short Christ Air about Christian Hosoi's redemption! Oct 24th 2013 Christ Air. You Are Not Alone, Bob Forrest Uncensored and Losing a Child Not Losing A Child Not Losing Hope were official selections screened at The Reel Recovery Film Fest to a standing ovation in Santa Monica at The Laemmle Theatre where Hoeft was on a Q and A Panel with the filmmakers.
