Alexandra Herzog

Biography

Originally from Winnipeg, Alexandra feels lucky to come from a city so rich in arts and culture. She started dancing at age five and spent the next thirteen years studying jazz, tap, music theatre, modern and the Cecchetti ballet syllabus. As a member of the Cecchetti Society, Alexandra obtained her Senior Certificate and completed her pre-professional training at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Alexandra was awarded scholarships in both ballet and modern from Dance Manitoba. It all changed when Alexandra saw a production of Our Town at Manitoba Theatre Centre. Her passion for acting grew once she saw and felt the impact it had on her and the other audience members. She built on her dance training and began studying voice, trombone, piano and theatre. Alexandra has since toured Europe (Baltic and Mediterranean) during two contracts with Celebrity Cruises, and seen Canada and the U.S. from coast to coast, performing with children's shows Caillou, Franklin, Big Comfy Couch and Max and Ruby. Recently Alexandra was a Silly Girl in Beauty and the Beast at Canada's largest open-air theatre, Rainbow Stage. She can also be seen dancing in movies Make It Happen and High Stakes. Alexandra pursued her training in Music Theatre at Sheridan College, recently graduating with high honors and the E. McFaddin award. She has recently had her choreography featured in Heart and Music, a benefit for Ovarian Cancer Canada. A passionate teacher, Alexandra has taught in Winnipeg, Ontario and has guest taught at New Dance Group and Manhattan Movement and Arts Centre in New York City.
