Fernando Gusmão

Founder of Teatro Moderno de Lisboa and Grupo 4, two theatre companies credited with popular, yet avant-garde plays - which was hard under the Government's censorship from the 1950s to mid-1970s. He also worked with Teatro Experimental do Porto, as actor and cenographer for those companies and several amateur, college companies, namely in Lisboa and Coimbra. As film actor, he may have not been so active and important; his low-profile, sober acting composed characters that will be remembered by those who saw _Saltimbancos, Os (1951)_, or _Cerro dos Enforcados, O (1954)_(q.v.).
