Daniel Cumerford

While a student at Sydney Boys High School, 13 year old Daniel was picked out during open casting for the movie Early Frost (1982), for his good looks. He had never acted before, but he learned fast. Later that year, the director of Ginger Meggs (1982) cast Daniel as wise guy Eddie Coogan. The role suited him perfectly and he had a lot of fun. With payment from the film, Daniel bought a great new Gottlieb pinball machine and a new skateboard and retired from acting. In the days before railway lines were rigorously fenced off, he was accidentally killed (aged 19) when taking a shortcut across a suburban train line near Rockdale, New South Wales.
